51 Global Warming Prevention Tips…:)

So few environmental posters have a clear call-to-action for the individual, if not it’s preaching to the choir. The times piece on the things you can do to make the world better is by far one of the best collection of to-dos. Some fav examples:

Have a green wedding: if your guests are traveling long distances, offset the carbon emissions from their trips with a donation to renewable—energy projects. Check out the sustainable—wedding website Portovert.com
Make one right turn after another: In 2004, UPS announced that its drivers would avoid making left turns. The time spent idling while waiting to turn against oncoming traffic burns fuel and costs millions each year. A software program maps a customized route for every driver to minimize lefts.

  2. Er, I am not sure the second one is that effective. If one takes only right turns, will it not add to distance, which would again affect fuel consumed?

  3. Gud kostin, turns out the world is wasting more time and fuel waiting to turn left (or right whatever the case maybe). My guess is that breaking, idling and accelerating frequently adds up to a lot of fuel wastage. UPS does allow a few strategic left turns if it prevents a driver from going in circles or driving for miles out of the way.
